Peacefulness Comes to an End

Ah me. Three whole days of not having to worry about kids. Two glorious snow days. Thankfully my nephews were with their dad. Now it comes to an end. He has to bring them back because it looks like there will be school tomorrow.

What did I do with my time? I played The Sims 3, I watched a corny old movie, I listened to music and sang, I shopped online, I took a few pictures of the snow…but mostly I luxuriated in the silence and solitude. It was lovely.

Music

I am watching the old movie “Humoresque”–it is about an violinist and his patroness. The movie is okay–melodramatic–but the music is good. All the classical favorites. I miss listening to classical music. I used to listen to quite a bit but I don’t listen to music much anymore. I don’t know why…I just never get the urge to put it on. Well, it kind of wears me out emotionally–all music really. First, I like most kinds of music and there is so much to choose from. Then the memories…or the stories the music tells me…

I used to sing in the shower too– that kind of stopped when I moved in with my husband. Too embarrassed I guess. Now there are even more people in the house to hear me. I don’t know if I am up for it but I miss it.

I suppose I’ll have to put that on my to do list…listen to music more.

Day Off

My brother finally picked up his boys after 5pm yesterday. My husband and I finally got a little bit of a break. We went grocery shopping–boo–but then we came home and had some time to ourselves. It was awesome.

I had to work today. Sundays are the only day I work at this point. Last Sunday Byron, my manager who is like a little brother to me, called and asked me if I wanted to stay home because it was so slow at work. Sure! So I sat around and played The Sims 3 all day and then me and my husband had some quality time after I watched Downton Abbey–good day.

I couldn’t be so lucky as to get another Sunday off, especially a snowpocalypse Sunday. I called up to work this morning to see what time I had to work–I am such a bad employee I don’t know, lol. Well! They put the schedule up on Mondays and rarely can I get in there to look…But anyway, I called to see and the store manager answered. Yikes! What is she doing there on a Sunday? Super Bowl Sunday at that. I don’t have any idea but it was surprising.

She was nice and told me when I worked today…but then she told me that it was so slow they were going to call somebody to see if they wanted to stay home, would I like to stay home? Sure! I told her I’d really like to stay home because the snow looked yucky. She laughed and told me to enjoy my day off. Thank you I will.

Now what should I do today?
