I am watching the PBS show, Independent Lens, about the 2008 GM plant closings in Janesville Wisconsin and the negative impact it had on the community. While I feel sorry for the people I am thinking, “Huh! Janesville? What about Flint?” Hell, this damn show might as well be Roger and Me. One guy on the show said, “I don’t think the people in Detroit know what they are doing to the community by closing the plant.” Yeah dude, tell us something we don’t know. Oh, they may or may not know…. they just don’t care–look what they did to Flint, the birthplace of GM and you think they are going to care about what they are doing to Janesville? Shoot, at least you had over 20 years of warning. Who in America didn’t think what happened in Flint could happen in their community (if it was a one industry town dependent on one mercenary company)???? Boggles the mind but so very tragic. I gotta stop watching.
