Yay! My stepson graduated from high school yesterday! My husband and I are very proud. Now on to our Mackinac trip and graduation party planning — my husband actually got the invitations made for the party today.
My stepson’s graduation ceremony was alright — it was in the high school gym. I wish his high school had a nice auditorium or I wish people could think of other places to have graduation ceremonies rather than gyms and arenas — they just aren’t very pretty or comfortable. It was very hot and humid in the gym  yesterday and the darn bleacher seats are hard on the ass. I wish we could have gotten to the ceremony really early to get a good seat. We were too far from the action. We were lucky to get a seat even though we did arrive 10 minutes early. Maybe we should have brought our own chairs 🙂
The ceremony itself was not too long but I don’t know, the speakers did not grab me, nor did the choir performance (really could have done without that) although the band was good. I did not care for the speakers at my own graduation ceremony either and I must say that our band performance was weak, ha. Must be people aren’t in the mood for graduations this year…or perhaps we are all losing faith in education, the future, or in our traditions. I would think it is only me but I don’t know, everyone seems a little flat and tired. I’ll have to see how my nephew’s high school graduation goes in June. Oh well, my stepson is pretty happy that he graduated and seems to be looking forward to going into the Navy.
