Mackinac

Thank goodness that the Grand Hotel on Mackinac Island sees the value in running specials. My husband and I got a great rate on a room right in the middle of June and in the middle of Lilac Festival! Yay! The island is especially beautiful at that time and to stay at the Grand is sublime. We had hopes to take my stepson but of course he can’t go (he didn’t really have a suit to wear to meet the dress code anyway)so it will be just my husband and I. Yay! Now I may even book a second night. Heavenly!

The great thing about Grand Hotel specials is they go all out. Our rate includes dinner, breakfast, and this time The Grand Luncheon Buffet so we don’t have to worry about anything on our stay. All we have to do is enjoy the view. When we went last spring we had a suite with a balcony. Not sure if we will get that lucky this time but anywhere in the hotel (or on Mackinac for that matter) is fine with me. Can’t wait – I am really going to enjoy relaxing on the Grand porch. I can smell the lilacs and geraniums now.
